Fingerboard Parts Guide
Fingerboard Parts Guide
Choosing the right fingerboard setup can feel overwhelming at first, but this guide should help simplify it. Here’s a breakdown of everything you need to know when picking your trucks, wheels, decks to make a complete setup.
Sizing: Matching Trucks to Decks
All trucks use a standard mounting size, meaning they’ll fit any deck. But for the best performance, match your truck width to your deck:
-
29mm trucks → decks 29–31mm
-
32mm trucks → decks 31.5–33mm
-
34mm trucks → decks 33.5–34.5mm
-
36mm trucks → decks 35mm and up
👉 Pro Tip: Larger wheels will stick out beyond the trucks, while smaller wheels (like Oak Minis) stay neatly inside the truck width.
Complete Fingerboards
There are 2 mains options for packaged completes :
-
Pre-Setup Completes – ready to ride straight out of the box with even the deck gripped with tape. (Such as Berlinwood and DKFB completes)
-
Unassembled Completes – build it yourself for a more hands-on experience. (Most other completes at Radical)
Every complete includes:
👉 If you’d rather skip the assembly, we also offers a setup service where a Radical team member will assemble your setup before shipping.
Wheels
Fingerboard wheels come in two main materials:
-
Urethane Wheels – Softer, grippier feel with smooth performance.
-
Plastic (POM) Wheels – Firmer, slicker, more prone to skidding (great if you like squeeky powerslides) and in turn makes them extra smooth.
Most entry-level completes come with basic plastic bearing wheels, while higher-end wheels use:
-
Better shapes and more options for shapes and size of wheels
-
Higher-quality materials
-
Precision bearings (like ABEC 9) for smoother, longer rolling
Trucks
Fingerboard trucks fall into two main categories:
-
Low-End Trucks – Cheaper builds, often using o-ring bushings. Functional but less realistic and often made partially of plastic.
-
High-End Trucks – Fully metal, engineered to replicate skateboard trucks, and use moulded conical bushings for smooth turning and durability. They also grind more smoothly and realistically due to high-quality materials.
Decks
All fingerboard decks share similarities, but higher-end ones stand out with:
-
Handcrafted quality and made of premium hand selected wooden plies
-
Advanced moulds for consistent shape and more pop
-
“Real wear” graphics that are designed to scratch and fade with use like a real skateboard deck
